Step 2a
Swimming aids can be worn for all criteria
- Hold child’s hands and pull through water using alternating motion with adult/child hands
- Encourage child to blow bubbles
- Encourage child to let go of adult and move independently
- Supporting child on back encourage them to kick legs
- Encourage child to enter water independently from sitting
- Encourage child to climb out without assistance
Step 2b
Swimming aids can be worn for all criteria
- Encourage child to jump into the water while holding their hands
- Encourage child to move across the water on their front using a float/woggle if necessary
- Adult to turn 360 degrees vertically and encourage child to do the same
- Support child on their back, kicking their legs to achieve propulsion
- Encourage child to blow bubbles or an object through the water
- Assist child to achieve a star float on front or back
Step 2c
Swimming aids can be worn for all criteria
- Child to achieve a star float on front or back
- Child to push a ball using alternating arms across the pool
- Child to independently hold float and kick legs to achieve propulsion
- Encourage child to blow bubbles with face in water
- Encourage child to jump from side into adults arms
- Adult to confidently submerge child and for child to be happy with it
